The Virtual Gastric Band

The Virtual Gastric Band is a non-surgical weight control technique which uses the power of hypnosis to retrain your mind to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food.  It changes how you think about food, resulting in very safe, predictable results. This technique convinces the brain that the stomach is full after a certain level of intake, and that there is no need for any more food.

It is most definitely NOT a diet.  We know that diets don’t work (except in the short term) .  The Virtual Gastric Band enables you to eat what you want, but will enable you to consume smaller portions.   Because it’s not a diet, you won’t feel deprived, miserable or hungry, the issues which cause diets to fail.  As the Virtual Gastric Band effectively negates these issues, you are left with a long-term solution to your weight problems – a whole new way of eating which feels natural and satisfying to you.

 

The Virtual Gastric Band can be undertaken quickly and privately, without the lengthy delay of hospital waiting lists, and of course carries none of the risks or recovery times of invasive surgery.

 

You do not have to have a particular BMI to qualify, and so this technique is suitable for most people who are aiming to get control of their weight.  However, if you prefer not to use the Virtual Gastric Band programme, a similar programme can be adapted for you.

How does it work?

The Virtual Gastric Band works using relaxation and visualisation techniques to suggest to your unconscious mind that you have had a gastric band fitted, and therefore you will receive signals that you are full after eating smaller portions of food.  Other powerful suggestions to your unconscious mind change the way you think about food – you will enjoy every mouthful more, want to eat less, find yourself drawn to healthier foods, and enjoy preparing fresh healthy foods.

 

The programme also addresses any emotional issues around food.  Some people use food for distraction, to relieve boredom, loneliness, sadness or frustration or simply as a comfort when things aren’t going well.  Through this programme we are able to explore these issues sensitively, allowing you to understand them better, and for you to re-programme your unconscious mind to meet these needs in healthier ways.

 

Exercise is an essential element of any healthy lifestyle and the programme enables you to begin to feel motivated to exercise, and enjoy being more active in a way you may not have thought possible in the past.

What’s included in this programme?

  • An initial discovery call, by phone or Skype, in which I am able to advise you on the suitability of the programme for you, and recommend how it can be tailored to your individual needs.
  • 12 sessions lasting 50-60 minutes over a period of 9 months.  The first 3 sessions will each be a week apart, followed by sessions 2 weeks and then a month apart.  This ensures the ongoing support and accountability essential for sustained change.
  • A personalised CD to consolidate your new ways of thinking.
  • A pedometer to record your levels of activity.
  • An exercise chart with stickers to motivate you in your new active lifestyle.
  • A folder with tips and techniques to support you.

Emotional Eating Programme

 

For clients who are already aware that their issues around food are strongly emotional, for example eating disorders, secret eating etc., the longer Emotional Eating Programme is recommended.  This is a six-month programme, focused on putting you back in touch with your natural rhythm of eating, pointing you towards the resources you already have within you to overcome your issues.  When you start to see what causes your habit in each moment, things can start to change quite dramatically.
